Job Description
Job Position : Brick Layer
Location : Qatar
Contract : 2 Years
Job Purpose :
To demolish and remove worn or damaged refractory materials, reline, and repair refractory materials at various facilities, including Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), deltas, ladle covers, rolling mill, lime plant, settling chamber, and other miscellaneous areas. Operate necessary refractory machinery and tools to carry out tasks effectively.
Job Responsibilities :
Technical Operations:
- Follow and implement verbal or written instructions from the supervisor.
- Ensure the appropriate refractory machines are in operational condition before use, including mixing machine, brick cutting machine, rammers, refractory tools, spray machine, continuous mixer machine, remote/pendant cranes, and slings.
- Receive new/used equipment like EAF refractory shells, ladles, deltas, and ancillary units from operations, cool them to room temperature, and clean the used refractory, dust, slag, and steel skull.
- Repair and reline refractory materials based on instructions with the appropriate type of refractory bricks, castables, and other materials as per standard drawings or given designs.
- Conduct hot repairs in EAF, ladle, deltas, covers, rolling mill, lime plant, and other areas as needed.
- After job completion, clean all machines, tools, and work areas.
- Communicate clearly with technicians on the next shift regarding current activities, equipment operations, and conditions.
- Work closely with production and maintenance personnel to execute maintenance plans without affecting production schedules.
- Transfer operation data to clerical support for measurement, control, and reporting of refractory activities.

- Follow all relevant departmental policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and instructions for consistency and control.

- Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements and quality standards.

- Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
Related Assignments:
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications : Technical Diploma in a relevant field.
Minimum Experience :
- 3 years of experience in steelmaking plants and process operations.
- Manufacturing/steel industry experience is preferred.
Job Specific Skills :
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Specialist skills and knowledge in the refractory field.
- Full understanding of plant and process specifications and parameters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Technical and business report writing skills.
