Electrician - MSS

 Job Responsibilities :

Maintenance Technical Activities:

• Execute all operation activities of MSS MV and LV transformer equipment and follow-up on inspection activities according to the maintenance schedule to ensure equipment availability for operations.
• Implement electrical and instrument maintenance programs in MSS, SVC, GIS, and heavy equipment to ensure smooth plant operation, equipment health, and minimum maintenance costs.
• Perform switching operations in high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage within the Qatar Steel network.
• Monitor and inspect electrical and instrument equipment to identify any defects and ensure that equipment is functioning properly in compliance with specific operating standards.
• Assess straightforward defects/issues and decide whether equipment should be repaired or replaced to ensure functionality at optimal costs.
• Make temporary and/or permanent repairs to ensure that plant equipment functions properly and in compliance with operating procedures.
• Carry out emergency and unscheduled diagnostic and repair activities to ensure equipment availability for operational needs.
• Regularly calibrate equipment as per ISO 9001 standards and record calibration results to ensure plant operations and equipment reliability.
• Inspect maintenance tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and fit for use at all times.
• Ensure the healthiness of the Emergency Power Supply system and maintain it to provide emergency electricity to other plants when required.

Data Recording and Analysis:

• Record inspection results, perform standard data analysis when required, and record all data in specified log sheets according to established procedures to ensure plant and equipment data is available.

Reporting:

• Report abnormal observations and corrective actions to senior colleagues to ensure appropriate remedial actions or planning for future maintenance.
• Report clearly to technicians on the next shift regarding current maintenance/repair activities, equipment operation, and conditions to ensure proper handover of the shift with full and clear information.
• Assist in preparing accurate and timely statements and reports to meet departmental requirements, policies, and quality standards.

Health, Safety & Environment:

• Comply with all relevant safety, health, and environmental procedures and report any HSE concerns or incidents to the responsible person to ensure safe work practices and achieve the corporate Zero Incident Objectives.

Policies, Processes, and Procedures:

• Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and work instructions in the MSS Electrical Section to ensure work is carried out in a controlled and effective manner.

• Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by the line manager.
