Melter - LF

 Job Responsibilities :

Technical Operations :

• Operate and control Ladle Furnace during ladle treatment (movement of roof, electrodes & ladle car, and Fe-alloys/flux additions).
• Perform temperature measurements and collect steel and slag samples for QC chemical analysis.
• Inspect equipment and machinery during shifts, report abnormalities or breakdowns to the Shift In-Charge.
• Arrange materials on the shop floor for current and next shift production requirements.
• Communicate with crane operators and shift supervisors to ensure proper ladle arrangements.
• Connect/disconnect purging hoses in EF LTC, LF LTC & purging stations.
• Execute manual alloy additions during abnormal MHS situations upon Shift In-Charge instructions.
• Perform off-line activities such as electrode connection, roof cleaning, LTC cleaning, and delta checking.
• Support maintenance teams during planned shutdowns to repair/overhaul equipment.
• Take necessary countermeasures in emergencies, ensuring safety and process continuity.
• Identify and report issues in equipment or processes promptly for corrective action.

Reporting :

• Prepare regular and special reports as required.
• Inform the Senior Technician/Supervisor of items needing inclusion in the planned shutdown.

Data Recording and Analysis :

• Record inspection results and operational data in log sheets and PMMS.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment :

• Comply with safety, quality, and environmental management policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workplace.

• Adhere to policies, processes, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure controlled operations.
