Job Position : Panel Operator – Water Treatment
Location : Qatar
Contract : 2 Years
Job Purpose :
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of water, air, and gas utilities equipment and systems within the Steel Making and Rolling Mill production plants. The Panel Operator will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing water treatment processes, cooling systems, and other essential utilities that are critical to plant operations. This includes managing the quality and quantity of water used in production, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and coordinating with various teams to resolve any operational issues that may arise. By effectively managing these utilities, the Panel Operator plays a key role in supporting the smooth and continuous production operations, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the achievement of production goals in a safe and efficient manner.
Job Responsibilities :
Technical Operations:
- Operate and monitor equipment for EAF/LF/CCs & Rolling Mills water treatment to meet production goals.
- Record equipment readings and operating conditions, analyzing data as per procedures.
- Identify and report any abnormalities, taking corrective actions in consultation with senior technicians.
- Control and record chemical dosing for cooling water systems.
- Perform scheduled activities, such as equipment changeover, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.
- Ensure emergency equipment like diesel engine-driven pumps is regularly checked and maintained.
- Communicate with Steel Making and Rolling Mill teams about utility supply issues and escalate to the Shift in Charge if needed.
- Ensure safety measures are followed by maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs to minimize unplanned plant interruptions.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the control room and plant.

- Follow departmental policies, procedures, and operating instructions to ensure continuous utility supply.

- Comply with safety, quality, and environmental policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping in the control room and plant.
Related Assignments:
- Perform other related duties as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications : Technical Diploma (Mechanical/Chemical) from a reputed institute/university..
Minimum Experience : 3-5 years of experience in utilities gases supply, compressed air stations, and cooling water treatment plants in steelmaking and rolling mill processes.
Job Specific Skills :
- Knowledge of compressed air stations and cooling water treatment plants.
- Understanding of water chemistry and basic gas laws.
- Familiarity with cooling tower functions and equipment/process parameters.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills in English (must).
- Ability to read technical drawings and documents.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to understand external business impacts.
- Understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
