Position Title: Field Draftsman / Designer
Reports to: Design Engineer / Project Manager
Job Purpose:
The Field Draftsman / Designer will collaborate with design and project engineers to convert conceptual designs into detailed technical plans. Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software, the Draftsman / Designer will create accurate drawings and layouts, calculate dimensions and material requirements, and describe production methods. The role requires a high level of skill in drafting and design, along with effective coordination with engineering and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Drafting:
- Create detailed technical drawings, plot plans, layouts, and schematics using CAD software.
- Develop coherent and complete initial design models based on provided drawings, calculations, and design ideas.
Design Coordination:
- Collaborate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design details.
- Recommend modifications to designs as needed to align with company standards and best practices.
Support and Documentation:
- Provide support to the engineering team by creating technical drawings and digital models within set deadlines.
- Utilize multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details.
Project Involvement:
- Collect initial design data and integrate it into comprehensive models for review and modification.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all design documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or I.T.I. holder in a relevant field; alternative qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the company.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Draftsman/Designer in the field.
- Skilled in using CAD software and drafting technical plans.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in creating technical drawings and layouts.
- Strong coordination skills with engineers and project managers.
- Ability to work with design data and provide accurate, detailed models.
