Job Description

Position Title: Field Material Controller

Reports to: Materials Manager / Project Manager

Job Purpose:

The Field Material Controller is responsible for the efficient operation of material movements and storage on-site. This role ensures accurate labelling, recording, and management of materials in accordance with warehouse procedures. The Field Material Controller will also manage material transactions, documentation, and liaise with various stakeholders to support ongoing and planned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Management:

    • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of materials movements and storage within site storage spaces.
    • Ensure accurate labelling and recording of materials in line with warehouse materials management procedures.
    • Receive and issue materials, applying appropriate preservation guidelines.
    • Check and review material delivery receipts against actual deliveries and raise discrepancy reports if applicable.
  • System and Reporting:

    • Record daily transactions in SAP or other material management software.
    • Maintain and provide daily reports of material receipts and issues.
    • Produce regular reports on outstanding materials required for project completion.
  • Documentation and Coordination:

    • Verify that all incoming and outgoing materials/equipment have proper documentation.
    • Ensure all material releases and surplus are properly recorded.
    • Liaise with project engineers, expediting teams, construction teams, store teams, and contractors to update material status for ongoing and planned projects.
  • Material Control and Traceability:

    • Control material issuance by contractors, ensuring material requirements are met for each job.
    • Assist in preparing and maintaining material traceability and accuracy from the request stage to collection and inspection.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Diploma or I.T.I. holder. Alternative qualifications may be accepted at the discretion of the company.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a material controller.
    • Experience with material management software such as SAP or Oracle Modules.
    • GCC/Oman experience preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge:

    • Good communication skills in English.
    • Familiarity with material management procedures and guidelines.
    • Ability to manage material transactions and maintain accurate records.
    • Experience in liaising with various stakeholders and coordinating material needs.
