Position Title: Field Quality Engineer / Inspector
Reports to: Field Superintendent / Quality Manager
Job Purpose:
The Field Quality Engineer / Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of construction, inspection, and maintenance activities across various disciplines in oil and gas projects. This role involves developing and implementing quality systems, procedures, and inspection plans, and conducting detailed inspections and audits.
Key Accountabilities:
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Develop and implement quality systems, quality plans, work procedures, and inspection plans.
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare and sign off on records for quality surveillance, inspections, and tests.
- Maintain records of calibration, inspection, and testing equipment.
- Report and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for construction methods and quality issues, and update the NCR register.
- Review and verify Completion Dossiers (MCD) to ensure compliance with SOP requirements.
Multi-Discipline Inspection:
- Perform inspection duties across various disciplines, including welding, painting, coating, non-destructive testing (NDT), and non-metallic materials.
- Supervise and coordinate with contractors to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Witness qualification procedures and tests, certifying results as applicable.
Discipline-Specific Responsibilities:
- Multi-Discipline Inspector: Possess relevant certifications (CSWIP 3.1, AWS, ASNT/PCN Level II) and experience in welding inspection and NDT techniques.
- Painting/Coating Inspector: Certified in BGAS-CSWIP Painting Level 2 or NACE Coating Inspector Level 2.
- NDT Inspector: Certified to ASNT Level II in RT, PT, MT, and UT techniques.
- Inspector (Non-metallic): Knowledgeable in welding procedures for GRE & HDPE/FCP, with relevant certification.
- Refractory/Insulation/Fire-proofing Inspector: Certified in ICorr Level 2 or API 936, with responsibilities similar to Senior Quality Engineer under supervision.
- Mechanical Inspector: Certified in API-510, API-570, API-653, with welding inspection qualification and ASNT Level 2 in NDT disciplines.
- Pipeline Inspector: Experience in pipeline construction and commissioning, with CSWIP 3.1, BGas/NACE Level 2, and ASNT Level 2 certifications.
- Static Equipment/Plant Inspector: Certified in API 510, API 653, API 570, and ASNT Level II in NDT disciplines.
- Rotating Equipment Inspector: Experience in rotating equipment inspection and condition monitoring techniques.
- Electrical and Instrumentation Inspector: Experienced in electrical and instrumentation inspection, including soil excavation, concrete, structural steel, and related construction activities.
- Material Receiving Inspector: Knowledgeable in GRP, GRE, HDPE, RTP, DSS, CRA steel piping systems, and relevant welding and NDT certifications.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain a daily record of inspection progress and report any anomalies or deviations.
- Provide detailed reports and updates on quality activities to the Quality Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Welding, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Civil Engineering).
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in oil and gas projects.
- Experience in developing and implementing quality systems, procedures, and inspection plans.
- Exposure to multi-discipline oil and gas construction and knowledge of relevant codes.
Certifications (As Applicable):
- CSWIP 3.1 / AWS for welding inspection or equivalent.
- ASNT/PCN Level II in RT, PT, MT, and UT techniques.
- BGAS Level 2, NACE CIP Level 2, API 510, API 570, API 653, or equivalent certifications.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Flawless Project Delivery (FPD) and Technical Integrity Verification (TIV) practices.
- Ability to review and interpret technical requirements and standards.
