1. JOB DETAILS:
- Position Title: Project Lead – Mechanical
- Reports to: Head of Section – Engineering
- Division: Technical
- Department: Engineering & CWS
2. JOB PURPOSE: Lead all Mechanical, Structural Fabrication, and Heavy Equipment Installation for Static & Rotary equipment Erection and Commissioning. Manage CAPEX / OPEX Projects from feasibility study to successful completion. Review project specifications, design, and drawings for Mechanical and Process Elements of EPC projects. Prepare design, scope, technical specifications for tendering Plant modification projects. Supervise, schedule, and ensure safe execution of CAPEX jobs, including validating invoices.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Project Management:
- Analyze and review plant modification projects to optimize cost and fulfill operational needs.
- Lead Mechanical projects and contribute to larger projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budgeted costs.
- Recommend equipment/systems, provide technical specifications, evaluate equipment, and recommend suppliers.
- Co-ordinate with other departments on engineering activities.
- Prepare project status reports, monitor budgets, and allocate project resources appropriately.
- Ensure adherence to site construction, QA/QC, and HSE procedures.
- Inspect systems, equipment erection, witness tests, and approve as required.
- Hand over projects, close out punch points, and validate invoices.
- Propose annual budget figures, update procedures, and coordinate during audits.
Strategic Contribution:
- Follow up on divisional strategy alignment with sectional business plans.
- Direct Qatarization strategy development in alignment with national objectives.
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Prepare and recommend Capital budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure project activities align with approved guidelines.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
- Ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures, and controls in Electrical Engineering activity, meeting procedural/legislative requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead identification of opportunities for continuous improvement, considering global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of Project reports meeting Qatar Steel’s requirements, policies, and quality standards.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment:
- Comply with safety, quality, and environmental management policies, ensuring a healthy and safe work environment.
Related Assignments:
- Perform other duties or assignments as advised by the Head of Section – Engineering Section.

- Exercise financial authority as per Qatar Steel’s Head of Section – Engineering.
7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Engineering & Projects at a senior level.
- In-depth skills and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and a thorough understanding of the complete production process.
- Manufacturing/Steel Industry experience preferred.
