Position Title: Senior Field Quantity Surveyor

Reports to: Project Manager / Contracts Manager

Job Purpose:

The Senior Field Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all quantity surveying activities related to offshore/onshore Oil & Gas/Petrochemical projects. This role involves preparing and managing Bills of Quantities, cost estimates, and handling claims, ensuring accuracy and completeness while adhering to contractual and procedural requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Quantity Surveying:

    • Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates for projects.
    • Measurement and verification of quantities and valuation of work done in accordance with contract terms.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of BOQ, cost estimates, cost variations, and invoices.
  • Cost Management:

    • Coordinate contractor input into estimates and assist Project Management Team (PMT) in managing project costs.
    • Work with Cost Control, Planning, and Scheduling to integrate project controls effectively.
    • Monitor and measure achieved and completed quantities by contractors.
  • Contractual Management:

    • Maintain a sound knowledge of contractual relationships and manage changes compared to the contract.
    • Influence demand and specifications, resolve disputes, and protect the company’s interests while preserving contract value.
  • Financial and Contractual Support:

    • Provide support on financial and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Participate in evaluating and recommending entitlement for contractor claims, including presenting and agreeing on recommendations with the Contracts Section and Project Management Consultant (PMC).
  • Reporting and Communication:

    • Generate reports and maintain records using computer technology and project-specific software.
    • Ensure fluent communication in English, both written and spoken, with strong technical writing and oral communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Qualifications:

    • Chartered Quantity Surveyor status with a recognized international body such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years of quantity surveying experience in offshore/onshore Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industries.
    • Proven experience in preparing BOQs, cost estimates, and managing claims.
  • Skills and Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of contractual relationships and quantity surveying practices.
    • Proficiency in computer technology and relevant engineering/construction software.
    • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong technical writing and communication skills.
